Heiter bis Folkig is a folk and medieval band from Franconia and Hesse .

history

The group was founded in 2004 by Sebastian Barwinek and Christian Reiter as a duo. There was a big line-up change in 2010 when four more members joined the band. From cheerful to folk, play at medieval markets , festivals , live role plays and events from the medieval , folk and fantasy scene . Since it was founded, the group has appeared at many events in the medieval scene, for example the Medieval Fantasy Spectaculum , the Freienfelser Ritterspiele and several times at the Mediaval Festival . At the radio for medieval music , Radio-AENA , her tracks have already reached the top position of the radio's internal listener charts several times, in 2008 her song “Tod und Mediziner” was number 1 in the annual charts.

style

Her musical repertoire is a mix of traditional songs and her own compositions. A comprehensive set of instruments from the Middle Ages and folk area is used. The focus is on polyphonic singing. The style of the individual songs varies greatly from calm ballads to a cappella numbers to cheerful drinking and fun songs .

Side projects

Since 2012, Heiter bis Folkig have been part of a large project "Capella Bardica Mythodeanis" together with other musicians from the LARP scene, including Die Galgenvögel and PurPur . In addition, individual members of the band also play solo programs and in other medieval and folk bands.

After founding member Sebastian Barwinek left the band for personal reasons at the end of 2013, he and Christian Reiter initially appear together as "Heiter bis Folkig original line-up", and since 2019 under the name "The Band with Folk in".

Cheerful to Folkig and the Discworld

Heiter bis Folkig have a special connection to the Discworld novel series by British fantasy author Terry Pratchett , without which, according to the two founding members, the band would never have been founded. The two band founders met through the Discworld fan base. Heiter to Folkig also appeared several times at the German Disc World Convention.
