Helmut Sandig (born April 26, 1919 in Chemnitz ) is a German former politician and functionary of the SED in the GDR .

Life

Sandig, son of a working-class family, did military service as a sergeant in Grenadier Battalion 102 during the Second World War. Immediately after the end of the war, he joined the KPD and in the spring of 1946 was one of the organizers of the union of KPD and SPD to form the SED in Chemnitz . He studied at the workers and farmers faculty at the University of Leipzig .

Sandig, who worked in the Ministry of Finance after the founding of the GDR, became head of the planning and finance department of the Central Committee of the SED in October 1954 . However, he lost this office in June 1955 to Fritz Müller , who was previously deputy headmaster and professor for economic policy at the state party school in Ballenstedt .

Sandig himself returned to the Ministry of Finance in 1958 and was first deputy there until 1964 and deputy minister from 1964 until he retired in April 1984. As such, he was most recently responsible for the financing of state organs and state institutions.

Among other things, he drafted the second law on the granting of rights of use to state-owned land, which was discussed in the People's Chamber in the first and second reading in April 1959 .

As part of the introduction and implementation of the New Economic System of Planning and Management (NÖS), he took part in the 55th meeting of the Bureau for Industry and Construction of the Politburo of the SED in September 1964 and held one of the presentations on the implementation of the New Economic System the field of prices and finance. On December 2, 1969, he negotiated with DTSB Vice President Franz Rydz about additional financial expenses for the DTSB and changes to the resolution of the Politburo of the SED Central Committee on "The further development of competitive sport up to the 1972 Olympic Games ".

In addition, as Deputy Minister in the mid-1970s, he was also responsible for cooperation with other ministries such as the Ministry of National Education .

Sandig was a candidate from 1958 to 1963 and from 1963 to 1989 a member of the Central Revision Commission of the SED.
