Helmut Wilhelm (born April 12, 1946 in Regensburg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

Life

After graduating from the Erasmus-Gymnasium Amberg in 1965 , he studied law at the Universities of Würzburg and Regensburg. He passed his first state examination in law in 1969 and his second state examination in 1972. After his first positions in Regensburg, Weiden and Tirschenreuth , he was a judge at the Amberg district court . From 1986 to 1994 he was a member of the Bavarian Constitutional Court , for which he continued to volunteer from 2011 to 2014.

In 1971, Helmut Wilhelm founded the Regensburg Forum for the preservation of the old town of Regensburg, of which he was chairman until 1987. The association received the Theodor Heuss Prize in 1975 and the Bavarian Monument Protection Medal in 1977 .

In 1980 Wilhelm was co-founder and chairman of the citizens' initiative for a future without nuclear power in Amberg. a. opposed the construction of the Wackersdorf reprocessing plant . In 1985 he joined the Greens . Investigations against Wilhelm started in 1986 because he “did not devote himself to his judicial office with full devotion” and called “legal dismantling and de-democratization” around the WAA by name.

Wilhelm was also the executive chairman of the Federal Association of Citizens' Initiatives Environmental Protection and worked in the urban planning, monument preservation and tourism group at the European Environment Office (EEB) in Brussels . He is a member of the Bund Naturschutz in Bayern and Ver.di . From 2003 to 2006 he was chairman of the Association of Friends of Mariahilfberg in Amberg . From 1984 to 2002 and again since 2008 he is a member of the Amberg City Council for the Greens . From 1994 to 2002 Helmut Wilhelm was a member of the German Bundestag (Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen). Helmut Wilhelm then continued to work as a judge in Regensburg until 2011.

Honor

In 2004 Helmut Wilhelm was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to the common good .
