Helmuth von Plessen came from the Mecklenburg line of the ancient nobility of the von Plessen family; he was the son of Samuel von Plessen (* before 1568; † 1613 on Müsselmow in the old courtyard) and Armgard von Plessen, born. von Halberstadt († 1614 Müsselmow). On September 1, 1654 he married Ölgard von Oertzen, the daughter of Jaspar von Oertzen on Roggow near Rerik and Eva von Pentz . Zittow village church - burial place of Helmuth von Plessen

In 1669 Helmuth von Plessen had the village church in Zittow equipped with the pulpit and patronage stalls; on the south wall of the chancel there is also an epitaph for Helmuth and Ölgard von Plessen, which Diedrich Joachim von Plessen had made for his parents in 1711.
