Herbert-Jürgen Gündisch
Herbert-Jürgen Gündisch (born February 26, 1929 in Dresden ; † March 13, 2018 in Sils / Maria , Switzerland ) was a German lawyer , constitutional judge and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
Gündisch was born in Dresden as the son of the Transylvanian member of the Hungarian Reichstag, Guido Gündisch . His mother Anni Baum was a relative of the later Federal Minister of the Interior, Gerhart Baum . He grew up in Dresden and Budapest, where he attended a Hungarian Protestant elementary school and then the German grammar school. After fleeing to Dresden and then to Austria, he came to Ulm in 1946, where he graduated from high school in 1947. He then studied law in Munich and Tübingen . After the legal traineeship, he went to Harvard Law School in 1952 , where he graduated with a Master of Laws . In 1954, he was awarded a doctorate in Tübingen, where he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law . jur. received his doctorate and passed the assessor examination there in 1956. In 1956 he moved to Hamburg with the institute and was also a lawyer at Modest & Partner in Hamburg. In 1990, as a partner, he was significantly involved in the merger with the Cologne law firm of Friedrich Graf von Westphalen , which today operates under the name Graf von Westphalen . In 2008 he left the firm and retired.
In addition to his legal work, Gündisch was a member of the judges' selection committee in Hamburg from 1973 to 1993 . From 1979 to 2005 he was a part-time judge at the Hamburg Constitutional Court , making him the longest term of office of any previous constitutional judge . Gündisch died at the age of 89 while on vacation in Switzerland on the Corvatsch .
politics
Gündisch was involved in the CDU , whose state delegates' day in Hamburg he headed for ten years. From 1961 to 1974 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament . For several years he was the parliamentary group's deputy chairman and spokesman for judicial policy. In 1965 he described his conception of politics to the Hamburger Abendblatt with the words: “Politics is becoming law. As a lawyer, I would like to influence the process of creating law in Parliament "
family
Gündisch was married to the painter Erdmute "Bibi" Berger and had three daughters and a son.
