Herbert Dreßler

Herbert Dreßler (born September 24, 1926 - † February 9, 2010 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1988 to 1990 he was chairman of the Dresden district association of the CDU.

Life

Dreßler worked as a machine fitter after attending secondary school in Leipzig . After studying at the vocational school teachers' institute in Dresden , he taught from 1949 to 1968 as a vocational school teacher in Pirna . In 1977 he earned the academic degree of Diplom Staatswissenschaftler in distance learning.

Dreßler became a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) in 1948 and exercised social functions in the party, in the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) and in the National Front of the GDR . From 1968 he was deputy chairman of the Dresden District Association of the CDU and member of the Dresden District Secretariat of the National Front. On January 25, 1988, he was elected CDU district chairman in Dresden. He held this position until 1990. At the special party conference of the CDU in Berlin in December 1989, he was elected a member of the party executive.

Dreßler died at the age of 83.
