Herbert Gerisch

Herbert Gerisch (born April 15, 1922 in Strohkirchen , Mecklenburg ; † April 1, 2016 in Neumünster , Schleswig-Holstein ) was a German building contractor and politician ( CDU ). He was the general manager of the Kieler Bau-Investitions-Gesellschaft (BIG) and chairman of the board of the interwoven Big-Heimbau. He was mayor of Neumünster in 1969 and 1970 and from 1963 to 1967 and from 1970 to 1977 a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament .

Life

Gerisch attended elementary school in Strohkirchen and then went to secondary school in Ludwigslust . He graduated from school in 1940 with a high school diploma. After that he was initially a career officer. After the Second World War , Gerisch worked as an employee in the housing industry. In 1955 he became CEO of BIG-Heimbau e. G., from 1973 he was also the managing director of BIG Bau-Investitions-Gesellschaft mbH. Gerisch was the boss of one of the largest construction companies in Northern Germany at the time. In 1990 he moved from the executive board to the supervisory board .

Gerisch was district chairman of the CDU in Neumünster and a member of the state board of the CDU Schleswig-Holstein. He was chairman of the CDU's state committee for housing, urban development and regional planning and a member of the federal committee and the federal structure committee.

From 1955 to 1974 Gerisch was councilor of the city of Neumünster, from 1955 to 1968 as CDU parliamentary group leader . From 1969 to 1970 he was mayor of Neumünster. He held the office of the city's head of culture from 1959 to 1974, and between 1969 and 1970 he was also head of school.

Gerisch was a member of the Housing Advisory Council and the Council for Urban Development at the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior. Gerisch was long-time district chairman of the German Red Cross Neumünster. Together with his wife, he founded the Herbert Gerisch Foundation in 2001 , an art foundation with the aim of creating a sculpture park in Neumünster.
