Herbert Henzler

Herbert Erwin Albert Henzler (born November 3, 1941 in Plochingen ) is a German management consultant .

Life

Herbert A. Henzler studied for his apprenticeship as a wholesale dealer in the German Shell AG business administration at the University of Siegen , at the University of Saarland in Saarbruecken , at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich and the University of California, Berkeley . He belonged to the first year of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's support for highly gifted students . In 1970 he started as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company , where he became a partner in 1975. In 1978 he was elected director. In 1983 he became a member of the “Shareholders Committee”. In 1985 he succeeded John G. McDonald as head of the German offices. In 1999 Jürgen Kluge became his successor. From 1999 to 2001 Henzler was "European Chairman" of McKinsey & Company ; In 2001 he left McKinsey in his operational role.

In 1992, Henzler became an honorary professor for strategy and organizational consulting at the University of Munich, where he still lectures.

In the same year, Henzler and Reinhold Messner founded an association for top German managers, the "Similauner" (after the mountain of the same name ), for joint mountain tours, downhill skiing races and professional lectures.

From 2004 to 2009 he was chairman of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Board of the Bavarian State Government (WTB), which advised the Bavarian cabinet on issues relating to university, education, research and technology policy. From 2006 to 2014, Henzler headed several government commissions of the Bavarian state government. Since 2015, Henzler has been an advisor to the Bavarian State Government for the promotion of start-up centers, network activities and start-ups in the field of digitization.

Herbert Henzler is active in several supervisory boards and advisory boards, including Ottonova AG, xbAV AG, Bauwert AG and FC Bayern München AG, SATMAP incorporated (dba) Afiniti, IZA.

From 2002 to 2012 he was Senior Advisor to the Chairman of Credit Suisse Group and Chairman of the Advisory Board of Credit Suisse Germany . Since the end of 2012 he has been working as a senior advisor at the investment bank Moelis & Company .

Herbert Henzler has published books and articles on questions of strategic corporate management as well as on economic and socio-political topics. Several of his books on the latter topics were created in collaboration with Lothar Späth .

On March 24, 2011, Henzler received the 1st Class Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
In recognition of his services, the Marvin Bower Society awards the Herbert A. Henzler Scholarship to committed university graduates with above-average academic performance.
2007 Gutenberg Praktiker Prize from the Erich Schmalenbach Society in Cologne
