Herbert Hofmann (politician)

Herbert Hofmann (born July 16, 1936 in Grünlas (Grafengehaig) , † November 22, 2014 in Stadtsteinach ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

After completing specialist training at a technical school and an internship, as well as a volunteer time, Hofmann was managing director of the Bavarian Farmers' Association in Kulmbach from 1958 to 1970 and temporarily worked at the main office in Bamberg . Afterwards he was managing director of the Forestry Association of Upper Franconia.

In 1966 Hofmann became a member of the Kulmbach district assembly , where he became the CSU parliamentary group leader in 1972. He was chairman of the CSU in the district association Kulmbach, for many years deputy chairman of the Junge Union Oberfranken and secretary in the CSU district executive committee of Upper Franconia. From 1970 on he represented the constituency of Kulmbach in the Bavarian state parliament until he resigned his mandate on July 18, 1984 because he was elected district administrator. He held this office until 1996.
