Herbert Knoblich

Herbert Knoblich (born June 11, 1939 in Alt-Jauer , Lower Silesia ) is a German educator , physicist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Cottbus in 1957, Knoblich began studying physics and mathematics at the Technical University and the educational institute "Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Wander" in Dresden , which he completed in 1961 with the state examination. He then worked as a physics and mathematics teacher until 1970. From 1970 to 1990 he worked as an assistant and senior assistant as well as a lecturer in solid state physics at the “Karl Liebknecht” University of Education in Potsdam . He received his PhD in 1975 for Dr. rer. nat. , completed his habilitation in 1986 on the topic of generation and transport of electrical charge carriers in dielectrics - for modeling the property profile of electrically insulating polymer solids (Dr. rer.nat.habil.) and then worked as a lecturer in the physics section, field of solid state physics at the PH Potsdam (his research concerned, for example, "hopping effects") and finally until 1990 in the polytechnics section as head of the "technical systems" division. After the political change in the GDR , Knoblich acted from June to October 1990 as head of the district administration in the Potsdam district .

Herbert Knoblich was married and has a daughter.

Knoblich joined the SPD in January 1990 and was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament from 1990 to 2004, and was elected its first president. In 1993/94 he was also a member of the Committee for Education, Youth and Sport. In parliament he represented constituency 22 Potsdam. After reaching retirement age, he decided not to run again for the state elections on September 19, 2004 and thus resigned from office and mandate at the constituent session of the state parliament on October 13, 2004.
