Herbert Rehbein (rider)

Herbert Rehbein (born November 3, 1946 in Ziegenhain ; † July 1, 1997 in Grönwohld ) was a German dressage rider and riding instructor.

Life

Herbert Rehbein was born into a family that had no relation to the cavalry. After finishing school, he moved to Flensburg at the age of 15 to do an apprenticeship as a rider with Karl Diehl at the Flensburg Riding and Driving School . After completing his apprenticeship, he moved to Walter Günther's Greif stable in Hamburg , where Karin Schlueter stood with her horses, where he became her personal trainer for the next twelve years. Here he also met his future wife Karin Rediske . In October 1971 the two married. When the Greif stable was closed in 1974, Herbert Rehbein accepted Otto Schulte-Frohlinde's offer to come to his farm in Grönwohld and in the following years established the Gröhnwohldhof as one of the most important European dressage centers.

In early July 1997 he died of lung cancer .

successes

Herbert Rehbein has won the German championship for professional riders and the German dressage derby several times , but his most important successes are those of his numerous riding students. In 1991 he was named Trainer of the Year by the International Dressage Trainer Club and in 1994 he was awarded the title of Riding Master by the FN .
