history
The place Heretshausen was first mentioned in the 9th century under the name Herineshusir (= settlement of Herideo). Finds of a villa rustica and a cremation cemetery, however, show a Roman settlement in the area.
Heretshausen initially gained importance through its location on the former Via Julia , which later served as the salt road from Augsburg to Freising and Reichenhall .
With the second municipal edict of May 17, 1818 , the municipality of Heretshausen was formed from the four districts of the tax district Adelzhausen, Haunsried , Heretshausen, Irschenhofen and Michelau .
The place held the status of a politically independent municipality until April 1, 1972. Then it was incorporated into the municipality of Adelzhausen in the course of the municipal reorganization of Bavaria .
