Heribert Tenschert

Heribert Tenschert (* 1947 in Bavaria) is a German antiquarian , publicist and author.

Life

In 1969, Tenschert began studying Romance , German and Latin studies at the University of Freiburg with Erich Köhler , which he broke off in 1977 in order to set up a book shop in Rotthalmünster. After successfully trading in modern bibliophile works, he concentrated on medieval books, especially books of hours. In 1993, he acquired the Sulzer Villa , known as the Bibermühle estate , located near Stein am Rhein . In 2010 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Freiburg. Printed books of hours are also part of his specialty; he has the largest collection in the world, around 375 copies (as of 2016).

Tenschert auctioned in 1988 at Sotheby's for a million pounds of the process - the manuscript of Franz Kafka , originally from Max Brod to be destroyed. Shortly after the purchase, Tenschert gave the German Literature Archive in Marbach the manuscript at a purchase price .

2017 initiated by Tenschert letter and factory output is Rudolf Borchardt in Hanser Verlag appear. For his friend Martin Walser , Tenschert created a 25-volume work edition for his 90th birthday.
