Herman Hugo
Herman Hugo (born May 9, 1588 in Brussels , † September 11, 1629 in Rheinberg ) was a Belgian Jesuit .
Life
Herman Hugo entered the Jesuit order in Tournai in 1605 . 1613 he received in Antwerp , the ordination . He made his perpetual profession in Brussels in 1621.
In 1627 he published his work Pia desideria (Antwerp 1624), which became one of the most widespread works of baroque emblematics . It gave the name to the famous Pia desideria by Philipp Jacob Spener (1635–1705).
