Hermanice ( German Hermanitz ) is a district ( Osiedle ) of Ustroń in the powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland .

Hermanice is located in the Silesian Foothills ( Pogórze Śląskie ), on the Vistula , about 2 km northwest of the city center.

The village had an area of ​​about 370 hectares .

history

The place is in the Olsa area (also Teschner Schlesien , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).

It was first mentioned in a document in 1484. The name is patronymically derived from the first name Herman (≤ German Hermann // Herimann ) with the typical patronymic word ending -ice.

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia , and since 1526 it has belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial , it formed a community in Austrian Silesia , Bielitz district and the judicial district of Skotschau from 1850 . In the years 1880–1910 the population increased from 749 in 1880 to 917 in 1910, there were predominantly Polish speakers (between 85.5% and 94.9%), also German speakers (between 11.5% in 1880 and 5 , 1% in 1910) and Czech speakers (22 or 3% in 1880). In 1910 54.7% were Protestant, 44.8% Roman Catholic, there were 5 Jews.

In 1920 after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Hermanice came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

Since 1945 it belonged to the municipality of Ustroń, it had the status of a town-like settlement, in 1956 it was granted city rights .
