Hermann Gründel

Hermann Gründel (born November 25, 1931 in Würzburg ; † July 10, 2013 in Rheinbreitbach ) was a German diplomat and most recently ambassador to Denmark .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1951, Gründel studied and then joined the foreign service . After completing the career test for the higher service, he was employed at various missions abroad and at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn . In the mid-1960s, he first worked at the permanent mission to NATO in Paris and then from 1969 to 1972 consul in Zagreb . Subsequently, he was a consultant in the permanent representation at UNESCO in Paris until 1975 . After temporary assignments in the headquarters of the Foreign Office, he was at the embassy in the Soviet Union for the first time .

In the 1980s he worked for ten years at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn, initially as head of the budget and finance department and then as ministerial director for the entire area of ​​organization, budget and administration. As such, he was also responsible as a security officer for the Federal Foreign Office and the 200 foreign missions of the Federal Republic of Germany. During a re-use at the embassy in the Soviet Union, he served as Counselor First Class director of the cultural department.
