Hermann Kues [ kyːs ] (born November 21, 1949 in Holthausen ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

From 2005 to 2013 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth .

Life and work

After High School on school Georgianum in Lingen graduated Kues studying economic and social sciences at the University of Muenster , which he as a graduate finished -Volkswirt. In 1979 he received his doctorate here as a Dr. rer. pole. with the work Co-determination and intensive phase” . After working as a lecturer in church adult education from 1976 to 1979 , Kues was deputy head of the Catholic Social Academy “ Ludwig-Windthorst-Haus ” in Lingen from 1979 to 1984 . In 1984 he joined the Lower Saxony State Chancellery and was finally office manager of the Lower Saxony Environment Minister from 1986 to 1990 . From 1991 to 1994 he was the full-time state manager of the CDU in Lower Saxony.

Hermann Kues is Catholic, married and has three children.

Political party

Hermann Kues joined the Junge Union (JU) and the CDU in 1968 . From 1970 to 1976 he was a member of the JU state board in Lower Saxony and the JU Germany Council.

Kues has been chairman of the CDU district association Osnabrück - Emsland since 2004 and a member of the CDU state board of Lower Saxony.

MP

From 1981 to 1984 he was a member of the district council of the Emsland district .

From 1994 to 2013 Kues was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1998 to 2000 he was deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group for the areas of health and social policy and from 2000 to 2005 parliamentary group commissioner for churches and religious communities. In addition, Kues was chairman of the Lower Saxony state group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group from 2002 to 2005. Hermann Kues has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Mittelems constituency . In the 2009 Bundestag election , he received 54.6% of the first votes . In the 2013 federal election , he did not run again for reasons of age.

Public offices

On November 23, 2005, Kues was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth in the federal government led by Chancellor Angela Merkel . He was a member of the Merkel I cabinet and was also represented in the Merkel II cabinet . His term of office ended in December 2013.
