Hermann Pedit
Hermann Pedit (born October 29, 1933 in Lienz , East Tyrol ; † November 26, 2014 ) was an Austrian painter and sculptor who lived and worked in Lienz.
Life
After completing his apprenticeship as an art fitter in his father's business in 1950, Pedit spent a short time at the Innsbruck painting school, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna , where he studied with Sergius Pauser from 1954 to 1955 and with Fritz Wotruba from 1954 to 1959 . Pedit received his diploma in 1958 in the master class of Fritz Wotruba.
Alongside Oswald Kollreider, he was a member of the Academic Artists Association of East Tyrol, founded in 1956 by Franz Walchegger (1913–1965) and Josef Manfreda (1890–1967), which was successful in the same year as part of the first group exhibition of East Tyrolean artists in the Tyrolean Art Pavilion . 1958 Co-founding of the Viennese Gallery Synthesis, which, through a discussion carried out by the media, showed its opposing art positioning to the grouping around the "Galerie next St. Stephan" founded by Monsignor Otto Mauer .
Walchegger, Manfreda, Leopold Ganzer and Hermann Pedit are the founding initiators of the Städtische Galerie in Lienz, established in 1964 (until 2004). In picture cycles such as "Night of the Soul", a series of 64 oil paintings, the experiences of the Yugoslav war zones in the 1990s, or music-induced painting cycles and landscapes, he expresses emotional worlds in oil on canvas.
Appreciation
Hannes Hibler characterized him as follows: “He is a classic artist because he is interested in the permanent, the essence, not the fleeting moment, the chance. But it is also a classic because it shows character in work and life. "
