Hermann Reuchlin

Hermann Reuchlin (born January 9, 1810 in Markgröningen ; † May 14, 1873 in Stuttgart ) was a well-known historian and descendant of Johannes Reuchlin .

Life

Reuchlin was the son of Johann Christoph Friedrich Reuchlin (1775-1838) and the philosopher Johannes Reuchlin was one of his ancestors.

Reuchlin studied theology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . After successfully completing this course, he accompanied his pupil Sieveking from Hamburg to Paris as a private tutor , where he stayed for a long time and dealt with the history of Jansenism . There made u. a. the acquaintance of the architect Louis Visconti . In 1840/41 he stayed in Rome for study purposes ,

In the spring of 1842 Reuchlin returned to Germany and in the same year became pastor of Pfrondorf near Tübingen and privatized in Stuttgart from 1857, where he died on May 14, 1873.
