Hermann zu Solms-Braunfels

Hermann Ernst Ludwig Bernhard Wilhelm Prince of Solms-Braunfels (born October 8, 1845 in Düsseldorf ; † August 30, 1900 in Braunfels Castle ) was a Hessian nobleman , hereditary prince and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Hermann was a son of Wilhelm Prinz zu Solms-Braunfels (1801–1868) and Maria Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau (1809–1892). His paternal grandparents were Friedrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels and Friederike von Mecklenburg-Strelitz , who later became Queen of Hanover. Hermann married his cousin Maria Theresia Eleonore, Princess zu Solms-Braunfels, (1852-1882), daughter of Carl zu Solms-Braunfels , on April 30, 1872 . On November 17, 1887, he married Elisabeth (1859–1951), daughter of Heinrich XIV. (Reuss younger line) in the castle church on Osterstein . He was the father of Prince Ernst August von Solms-Braunfels (1892–1968).

From 1881 to 1890 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Koblenz 1 Wetzlar , Altenkirchen and the German Conservative Party .

With the death of his brother Prince Georg zu Solms-Braunfels in 1891, he became a registrar and as such belonged to the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse by virtue of the constitution from 1893 to 1900 . From 1882 to 1905 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .
