Herrad Wehrung

Herrad Rosemarie Hornung-Wehrung (born August 19, 1925 in Münster , † December 11, 2010 in Tübingen ) was a German soprano .

Life

Wehrung studied singing in Salzburg at the Mozarteum with Günther Baum , in Stuttgart and with Margarethe von Winterfeldt at the Freiburg University of Music . Between 1950 and 1975 she was a concert soprano and oratorio singer with Europe-wide appearances. She also worked with the composers Helmut Bornefeld and Siegfried Reda . She then taught singing at the Stuttgart Music Academy and the Trossingen University of Music .

In Tübingen, where her father, the Protestant theologian Georg Wehrung , was called in 1931, she was a co-founder of the Tübingen Chamber Music Circle in 1944. She was married to the historian and librarian Hans Hornung . The daughters Andrea Boesen and Franziska Dieckmann also work as singers.
