history

Until the beginning of the 19th century, Herresbach belonged to the parish Oberpleis in the Bergisch Amt Blankenberg . After the dissolution of the Duchy of Berg in 1806, Herresbach was administratively assigned to the Oberpleis mayor (until 1813 Mairie Oberpleis ) and from 1845/46 belonged to the newly formed Oberpleis municipality. In the context of censuses in the first half of the 19th century, the village was recorded as a farm until at least 1843 .

From February 21, 1894, Herresbach formed the end point of the Bröltalbahn on the Oberpleis – Herresbach section. On October 1, 1902, the line was extended from Herresbach in a southerly direction to Rostingen . May 20, 1951, the Bröltalbahn was discontinued on the Oberpleis – Rostingen section and on February 1, 1956 for freight traffic on the Oberpleis – Nonnenberg section . The street name Am Herresbacher Bahnhof in Herresbach is reminiscent of the former station of the Bröltalbahn .

As a result of its merging with Oberpleis, Herresbach is no longer designated as an independently named district by the city of Königswinter.
