action

The wealthy couple Evi Müller-Todt, a garden architect who suffers from anxiety disorders, and Claus Müller-Todt, a cosmetic surgeon for liposuction, live bored in a well-tended villa that they bought at a foreclosure auction. Your neighbor is Mohammed, the son of a sheikh from the Middle East who constantly throws frivolous parties.

When her cleaning lady quits, Claus drunk and puts an advertisement on the Internet in which he is looking for a new domestic help with “slave wanted”. A collection of strange figures in lacquer and leather then appears on their doorstep the next day. He apologizes and sends her away because he would have phrased it incorrectly and is looking for a normal housekeeper. In the evening, however, the normally dressed Bartos appears to him and offers him to place himself under her rule. He is a former manager of a hotel now owned by the bank and has more debts than he could ever repay in his life. He offers his services and only asks for board and lodging, since any money he earns would go to the bank anyway.

Bartos serves grandiose 3-course meals and transforms the house into a 5-star hotel. He suggests Evi increase the security of the property by installing surveillance cameras everywhere. He introduces the Müller-Todts to his attractive wife Lana, who soon starts as a masseuse, sauna master and maid. He also gets a group of Romanian guest workers to fulfill Evi's long-cherished dream of a swimming pool in the garden. Evi finds it inhuman that they should only earn 2 euros, but is persuaded by Claus and Bartos.

When Mohammed wants to organize another extravagant party, he borrows from Claus Bartos as organizer and the Romanians as waiters. The two neighbors are also invited for the first time. At the party, which has the theme of ancient Rome, various bodyguards of Muhammad and apparently prostitutes are present. While Evi is disgusted by it, Claus has a good time. Mohammed believes that he and Claus are the same, that they don't care what the world thinks of them. He takes him to the Sado Maso studio in the basement of his property, gives him cocaine and also shows him photos of the atrocities he committed in the war. Claus, disturbed by the pictures, goes back to the party and looks for his wife. He meets the lasciviously dressed Lana, whose sexual services Bartos offers him because that belongs to slaves to masters. Before Claus can get weak, Evi finds him and wants to go home. At night he cannot sleep and goes to Barto's small apartment on the property, who has already been waiting for him and offers him his wife again. He's having wild sex with her.

The next morning, Bartos explains that one of the Romanians stole Evi's watch and he can't let them get away with it. Claus confronts the culprit in the excavation of the future swimming pool and finally brutally knocks him down with an iron bar in order to gain the necessary respect. When Evi comes home, the Romanians are leaving the property. She believes that Claus has come to his senses and no longer wants to let "slaves" work for him and calls Bartos and Lana over to dismiss them as well. Although this is not Claus' will, the two leave.

The following night, Claus receives a call from Bartos, in which he explains that he "forgot something in the garden". When Claus checks he finds the Romanian he beat up dead in the building pit. He buries him in the pit. With music he is lured into Bartos and Lana's apartment, where they ambush him and explain who they really are: the former owners of the villa. They blackmail him with videos of the Romanian's murder and funeral as well as the affair with Lana and demand that he hand over the villa to her by midnight and kill his wife in order to gain access to her inheritance.

Desperate, Claus turns to Mohammed to borrow a pistol or one of his bodyguards. But he cannot reveal to him what he needs this for and leaves again. He calls Bartos and tells him he'd rather go to jail than lose his home and kill his wife. Midnight goes by and nothing happens.

Mohammed appears at breakfast and takes Claus into his house in the basement. There are the tied Bartos and Lana, who intercepted Mohammed's bodyguard around midnight on the way to Claus and Evi's property. Mohammed demands that he kill her with a chainsaw and dismember her, which Claus finally does when Mohammed threatens him with a gun.

In the last scene you can see Claus in the garden by the pool, which is now finished, apparently celebrating his 50th birthday with many friends, including Mohammed.

criticism

“'Glorious Times' is a good comedy with a high degree of craziness and a lot of overstylized pictures, which is also so fun to watch because the strained and compulsive artificiality of the world they are talking about is so much their own . "
