Oliver Masucci (born December 6, 1968 in Stuttgart ) is a German actor . From 2009 until the end of the 2015/16 season he was a member of the Vienna Burgtheater ensemble .

life and work

Private

Masucci attended the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium Bonn together with the actor Joachim Kretzer . His father is Italian, his mother German. The family ran several restaurants in Bonn. He has three children.

Artistic career

In addition to numerous theater roles, he was best known for his role as "Ares de Saintclair" in the film The Blood of the Templars , which was shown on television for the first time in December 2004. The short film The Red Jacket (2002), directed by Florian Baxmeyer , won the “Student Oscar” at the Academie Awards and was therefore automatically nominated for its big brother “Oscar”.

His acting career took him from Basel (1995) to the Schauspielhaus Hamburg (1996–2002), the Münchener Kammerspiele (2001), the Schauspiel Hannover (2000–2005), the Schauspielhaus Bochum (2003–2005), the Schauspielhaus Zürich (2005 –2009) and the Salzburg Festival (1999 and 2007) finally to the Vienna Burgtheater. He was seen at the Schauspielhaus Zürich in Major Barbara and Performances and Instincts and at the Schauspiel Hannover in Iwanow and Fettes Schwein and also at the Theater Basel in Endstation Sehnsucht .

From 2009 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Burgtheater, where he played leading roles in celebrated productions such as War and Peace , Solaris , The Ahnfrau and The Trojan Horse . In October 2015, the film He is back in the cinemas, in which he can be seen as Adolf Hitler . For this role he had to gain 26 kilograms. He played “Ugly Joey” in the TV trilogy Winnetou - The Myth Lives , and gangster Viktor Parkov in the TV thriller Berlin Eins . He was editor-in-chief Jens Weisshaupt in the media thriller The Fourth Power (2016). In 2016 he shot the feature film Werk ohne Autor with Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and the two-part political thriller Deadly Secrets with Sherry Hormann at Katja Riemann's side .

In 2016 he was nominated for the German Film Award for the role of Adolf Hitler in the film He is back .

In 2017, his role in the worldwide Netflix series Dark attracted a wide international audience. Masucci portrays Fassbinder in Enfant Terrible , a biopic by Oskar Roehler about Rainer Werner Fassbinder , which will be released as a movie in autumn 2020.

Oliver Masucci is a member of the German Film Academy .
