Herrnwahlthann is a district of the municipality of Hausen in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim .

geography

Herrnwahlthann is located about two kilometers southwest of the main town of Hausen on the federal highway 93 . On the southern outskirts of the village, the Esperbach (a tributary of the Feckinger Bach, which flows into the Danube ) touches the district, which extends from there to the north to a hill on which the Catholic parish church of St. Andreas is located.

history

Herrnwahlthann was first mentioned in a document in 863/864 as Tanna monachorum , which means something like settlement on or in the coniferous forest . The word part Thann is borrowed from this name and can also be found on a map by Philipp Apian from 1560. The part of the word “Herrnwahl” is still the name of a nearby settlement and goes back to the Romanesque settlement of the area by the Walchen - this is how the Celts were called by the Bavarians . The later relocation of the parish seat from Herrnwahl to Thann resulted in the place name Herrnwahlthann.

During the Napoleonic Wars, met on 19 April 1809 in the vicinity of the hamlet French- rheinbündische soldiers on Austrian troops and carried the battle of Teugn-Hausen (also called "Battle of Thann and Hausen" called) from which the following day at Abensberg continued .

On 1 January 1978 in the wake of were local government reform communities Hausen, Herrnwahlthann and Großmuß merged into Hausen, a member of the now managing Community Langquaid is.
