Hertha Jung

Hertha Jung (born May 6, 1921 in Gries near Bozen ; † June 15, 2009 in Berlin ) is a former German politician ( GDR CDU ). From 1958 to 1990 she was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR and a functionary of the Democratic Women's Association of Germany (DFD).

Life

Hertha Jung was born as the daughter of an employee in Gries. She attended elementary and middle school and finally a commercial school. Her family moved to Berlin in 1927 . Here she worked from 1938 to 1945 for the patent attorney Egon Prinz as a correspondent. She married shortly before the end of World War II and gave birth to a daughter a few months after the war.

From 1945 to 1949 she lived as a housewife in Berlin. In 1949 she became secretary and soon afterwards chief secretary in what was then the German Economic Commission (DWK) and joined the Democratic Women's Association. From 1949 to 1952 she was chief secretary of the State Secretary in the Ministry of Transport Wilhelm Bachem . In 1950 she became a member of the CDU in Berlin . As a further training, she attended the company adult education center of the ministries in Berlin from 1950 to 1952 and a course for internal training in Kleinmachnow in 1951 . From 1953 to 1955 she worked as a consultant and deputy chairwoman of the operating group of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship in the Ministry of National Education . 1954 to 1957 she completed a distance learning course for educators in homes and after-school care centers that she graduated with a state examination. From 1954 to 1958 she was a member of the district executive committee of the DFD in Berlin-Köpenick . She has represented the DFD in the city council of Berlin since 1954. From 1955 to 1958 she was the personal assistant to the President of the Länderkammer August Bach . From 1956 to 1958 she was a member of the CDU district executive in Berlin-Köpenick and from 1956 a member of the secretariat of the CDU's Berlin district executive. She was a member of the main board of the CDU from 1956 to 1989.

From April 1958 to May 1964 she was deputy chairwoman of the district association of the DFD Berlin. From 1960 to 1990 she was a member of the Presidium and from June 1964 to March 1982 secretary of the DFD federal board. From November 1979 to 1990 she was Deputy Chairwoman of the DFD.

She was a member of the People's Chamber as a member of the DFD from the 3rd to the 9th period. From January 1, 1960 to 1964, she was secretary of the GDR Interparliamentary Group.

She was a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation . From 1963 she was a deputy member of the Council of the International Women's Democratic Federation . From 1970 to 1990 she was Vice President of the League for the United Nations .
