Duke of Palmela

Duke of Palmela (Duque de Palmela) is a Portuguese hereditary title of nobility since 1850 . It was bestowed on Pedro de Sousa Holstein and his descendants on October 18, 1850 by Queen Maria II .

Historically, the Sousa had been the masters of Calhariz. Pedro de Sousa's paternal grandmother was Princess Anna Leopoldine of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck, a daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm I of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck .
