Hessle is a small town in the English Unitary Authority East Riding of Yorkshire . Located on the north bank of the Humber , it borders directly to the west on Kingston upon Hull and forms practically a uniform urban area with the city. Hessle had 14,767 inhabitants at the 2001 census.

Neighboring municipalities of Hessle are (clockwise, starting in the west): North Ferriby , Swanland , Anlaby with Anlaby Common and the city of Hull. On the opposite bank of the Humber is the port of New Holland and the small town of Barton-upon-Humber .
traffic
On the south-western outskirts of the city, the A15 (Hessle– Peterborough ) connects the two banks of the Humber via the Humber Bridge, which is subject to toll , making it easy to reach Lincolnshire in the south . Driffield can be reached via Beverley via the A164 continuing north , and the M62 via the A63 (Hull – Leeds ), which connects to the UK motorway network.
Hessle also has a train station with direct train connections to Hull, Leeds, Doncaster and York .
The nearest airport is Humberside Airport , which is about 30 km south in North Lincolnshire .
Hessle is also the starting point of the Yorkshire Wolds Way , a 127 km long hiking trail that leads over the Yorkshire Wolds to Filey on the North Sea coast .
