Driffield is a small town in the English unitary authority East Riding of Yorkshire . It is located in the Yorkshire Wolds and is often referred to as their main town. Driffield had a population of 11,477 at the 2001 census.

Facilities

Driffield owns a hospital, a fire station and a police station. There are several churches of which the All Saints Parish Church is the largest.

There is a primary school and a secondary school. The closest private school is Woodleigh School in North Yorkshire.

A cattle market was held regularly in the city until 2001; however, this tradition was broken off because of the foot and mouth disease and has not been resumed since.

The city hosts the nation's largest one-day agricultural fair , the Driffield Steam And Vintage Rally . Historical vehicles and machines are exhibited here, and various old ways of working such as plowing and threshing are demonstrated.

The Bronze Age Driffield Hoard was found here.

Driffield can be reached via the Hull and the Driffield Navigation by water. The city is on the A614 ( Nottingham - Bridlington ), the A166 to York , the A164 to Beverley and the B1249 to Scarborough . Driffield also has a train station on the Yorkshire Coast Line from Kingston upon Hull to Scarborough.

Driffield has been connected to the HSDPA network since mid-August 2009 .
