Hieronymus Moosbrugger

Hieronymus Moosbrugger (born May 29, 1808 in Schoppernau , Vorarlberg , † December 12, 1858 in Vienna ) was an Austrian stucco sculptor and art marble artist and came from the Moosbrugger family, famous for their builders, plasterers and painters . He is considered the last representative of the Vorarlberg Building School ( Auer Zunft ).

Hieronymus Moosbrugger was the son of the builder Josef Simon Moosbrugger (1774–1828). In the churches he built in Tyrol, Hieronymus worked as a church decorator. As a result, King Ludwig I of Bavaria became aware of him and gave him orders between 1830 and 1834. From 1839 Moosbrugger worked on numerous palaces and churches in Vienna. Here he died of typhus in 1858.

In 1909, Moosbruggergasse in Vienna- Meidling was named in his honor .
