The Hilligenlei is a ferry of the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum , which serves the Hallig line Schlüttsiel - Hooge - Langeneß . Named the ship after the mound Hilligenley on the Hallig Langeness.

history

The ship was built with hull number 1494 as Pellworm at the Husum shipyard and was laid down on September 21, 1984. The launch took place on February 1, 1985. On March 14, 1985 the ship was delivered to the Neue Pellwormer Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft . There she was used in the ferry service between Nordstrand and Pellworm . In 1997 she was sold to the Insel- und Halligreederei Sven Paulsen in Westerland on Sylt . It was renamed Adler Polonia . Her home port was now Altwarp , from where butter trips on the Oderhaff were made.

It was sold to the Wyk steam ship shipping company Föhr-Amrum and in 2002 Hilligenlei I renamed. It replaced the larger Hilligenlei III and took up the ferry service between Schlüttsiel, Halligen Hooge and Langeneß and Wittdün on Amrum on September 21, 2002 . In February 2010 it was renamed Hilligenlei after the Hilligenlei III was sold in 2006. Amrum has not been used since 2019. At the beginning of 2019, the ship received a new engine system with two Volvo Penta main engines with an output of 294 kW each. It replaced two MWM diesel engines with an output of 285 kW each.
