Hilmar Schumann

Hilmar Schumann (born November 8, 1902 in Potsdam , † December 24, 2001 in Braunschweig ) was a German geologist , mineralogist and petrologist .

Life

Hilmar Schumann, son of Richard Schumann and Erna born Jastram wondered at the duty station of his father Vienna the matriculation examination from, then he devoted himself at the city's university studies of Geology and Mineralogy, 1928 took place its graduation to the Dr. phil. Schumann, who held the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences there from 1958 to 1960 , switched to a private lecturer in mineralogy and petrography at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1961 , in 1963 he was appointed full professor and head of the Mineralogical-Petrographic Institute, and in 1968 he was appointed retired .

Schumann, who turned to the research areas of polarization microscopy , petrography and sediment petrography, became a full member of the Braunschweigische Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft , a member of the German Mineralogical Society, an honorary member of the Austrian Mineralogical Society in 1978 and of the Friends of the Mineral Cabinet in 1998 TU Braunschweig added. Robert Schumann's great-great-nephew , who married Ursula, widowed Dunkelberg, née Eysen in 1956, died on December 24, 2001 at the age of 99 in Braunschweig.
