The Hilpertsklingenbach is the right upper course of the Echtbach in the Schwäbisch Hall district in northern Baden-Württemberg, not quite a kilometer and a half long . It arises in the forest area around the Neuberg castle ruins on the edge of the municipality of Frankenhardt and flows from the right to the left Seebach near the Hilpert farm in the small town of Vellberg .

geography

course

Close to the Steigenkopf of the K 2665 from Vellberg- Großaltdorf to Frankenhardt- Steinehaig is on the west side of the road, opposite the exit of the strikingly wide and well-developed forest road to the former military depot in Heiligenholz , a small hiking car park, bordered by two gravel forest path exits to the west into Gewann Rosswart and to the southwest down into the Hilpertsblade . In addition to the last, after a few meters in a steeply incised blade crack in the Gewann, water shortage arises at about 472  m above sea level. NHN of Hilpert blades Bach, the partially meandering southwest to the west between the height of the forest Ross Warts right and the spur of the Neuberg flows left to the valley. While still in the upper reaches, it takes in two short tributaries of side blades from the right at the Gewann Rappenklinge . Further down, the blade crack, with tree roots sometimes overhanging at the beginning, becomes a flatter and wider hollow. The stream bed is usually about one, rarely up to two meters wide, in the upper area partly covered with rubble, the sediment in it is initially sandy to muddy, towards the end of the forest the stream then runs in a trench-like incision in its hollow, its bottom is clayey.

After about two thirds of the length of the stream, the now flat right lower slope opens up into a floodplain in which the Hilpert farm is less than 100 meters from the course . In its last few meters, the Hilpertsklingenbach passes a flat alluvial forest on the left bank at the foot of the Neuberg, then it flows less than 200 meters south of Hilpert at about 382  m above sea level. NHN together with the Seebach to the Echtbach .

The Hilpertsklingenbach is 1.4 km long, falls on this route by about 90 meters and has a mean bottom gradient of about 65 ‰. Apart from the two side streams mentioned, which flow into the upper reaches from the Rosswart side, both at most a little over 0.2 km long and also sometimes dry, the stream has no significant tributaries. The forest path leading down from the parking lot near the source to Hilpert, which is closed to general traffic, nestles gently into the small side blades and offers a good view of the steep Hilperts blade in the upper area.

Catchment area

The Hilpertsklingenbach has a catchment area of around 0.6 km². From a natural perspective, it is located entirely in the lower area of the Burgberg Vorhöhen and Speltach Bay of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . The subspace extends there, more oriented towards the forest contour, across the watershed of its core area Speltachbuch into the adjacent catchment area.

The north-north-western watershed runs through the Rosswart Forest and separates it from the catchment area of the creek from the Brunnenklinge , which also flows into the Echtbach a little downhill from the junction of Hilpertsklingenbach and Seebach. In the north-east, in the area of the sidewalks of the district road, the catchment area of the Steppach borders, which feeds the Aalenbach above the Echtbach . Then follows a short stretch of the eastern border on the Neuberg-Sporn, beyond which another Seebach drains the noticeably flatter terrain over the Buchbach to the Speltach , a feeder of the Jagst ; the water of the Aalenbach, on the other hand, runs through the Bühler to the cooker . The last, again longer section of the total watershed on the spur of the Neuberg separates Seebach from the blade of the other Echtbach upper course . The site reaches its greatest height at around 481  m above sea level. NHN in Rosswart .

In vast majority of the catchment area is forest, open only the right Aue to Hilpert and an even smaller clearing strips on the narrow plateau of Neuberg, where close to the castle ruins Neuberg , but the watershed just been on the other side the uninhabited detached house Neuberg the community of Frankenhardt stands.

The stream rises on Frankenhardter Grund, but follows soon and for the most part quite close to the municipality boundary from Frankenhardt on the left to Vellberg on the right.

geology

The brook rises a little below the layer boundary between the gypsum keuper ( Grabfeld Formation ), which is present on most of the catchment area, and the overlying reed sandstone ( Stuttgart Formation ), which covers the leveling areas on the Neuberg-Sporn and above on the Rosswart and the only other Mesozoic Layer in the catchment area is ..

For the anhydrite mine Kreuzhalde , whose access tunnel runs into the mountain at the Kreuzhalde on the left slope of the Aalenbachstale, a concession for mining has been granted, which also extends to parts of the catchment area. The mining of anhydrite and gypsum does not seem to have reached its limits underground.
