Hiromitsu Isogai ( Japanese 礒 貝 洋 光 , Isogai Hiromitsu ; born April 19, 1969 in Ogawa (today: Uki ), Kumamoto Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player . At the King Fahd Cup in 1995 , he completed two international matches, which were the only appearances for his home country. After finishing his career as a football player, he tried his hand at becoming a professional golfer .

Club career

Started his career in Kumamoto Prefecture

Isogai was born in 1969 in the then still independent city of Ogawa in the southern Japanese prefecture of Kumamoto, grew up in his hometown and completed part of his school education there. In the city of Ogawa, which merged in 2005 with the cities of Misumi and Shiranuhi and the two other cities of Matsubase and Toyono to form the new city of Uki with almost 60,000 inhabitants , he attended the local secondary school from 1982 to 1984. He then attended the Teikyō High School from 1985, which is part of the Teikyō University based in the capital Tokyo , and where he was also used in the school's internal football team. He had already been active as a soccer player in his childhood and also at junior high and mostly held offensive positions. Isogai was not the only prominent graduate of Ogawa Middle School; soccer players like Seiichirō Maki or Yuki Maki and their sister, professional handball player Karina Maki , also attended the school in the former small town. After graduating from Teikyō High School in 1987, he was drawn to the private Tokyo Tōkai University in the same year , where he worked until 1991 and was also employed in the university sports department in the soccer field. In 1991 he spent a semester as an exchange student in Spain . During his sometimes quite successful school days and his time at the university as a striker , he established himself as a classic playmaker in attacking midfield after being accepted into the professional squad of Gamba Osaka .

As a playmaker in Osaka

While the later club Gamba Osaka was still represented under the name Matsushita Electric in the former top division in Japanese football , the Japan Soccer League , which played its last season this year, Hiromitso Isogai remained out of action, but played it a few times Substitute bench. Although he was subject to some irregularities and form lows during his time in Osaka, Isogai's shooting accuracy with the right and left foot was almost the same, which he often demonstrated with precise free kicks. The offensive player still had his first appearances for the professional team in 1992, when he was used in the pre-season against teams like Spartak Moscow . Further appearances in the Kaiser Cup and in the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup followed for him in the further course of the season. In his first year as a professional, Isogai was able to celebrate his first and, until his move, only title with Gamba Osaka, winning the Queen's Cup in Thailand . Under the former star striker and since the 1970s as a football coach acting Kunishige Kamamoto he finally gave in game in 1993 , the first season of the newly established J. League , his professional league debut. Hiromitsu Isogai was used in a total of 28 league games, during which he scored six goals. Over the years he quickly developed into a regular in the club's attacking midfield, but he never achieved undue success and was even a team captain for some time . In 1994 Isogai was even used in 40 league games, in which he again contributed six goals. In the following year he completed his strongest year when he played 37 league games and hammered 13 goals into the opposing goal. He also played four games in the Kaiser Cup, in which he scored as many goals and was eliminated with the team just 1: 2 against Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the semifinals. After that, his scoring risk as well as his number of appearances decreased, whereby in 1996 he only made 20 championship appearances and one goal. He also scored two goals each in the Kaiser Cup and in the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup of the same year.

Early retirement with the Urawa Red Diamonds

After a move to the Urawa Red Diamonds shortly before the 1997 season , Isogai's numbers continued to decline dramatically, mainly due to some serious injuries that made him missed most of the season. By the end of the season, he had ten league games, in which he still scored three goals. For the 1998 season only as an injured substitute, he decided to end his active career prematurely due to the hopelessness of creating a breakthrough in professional football. At the time, the two-footed offensive player was just 29 years old.

National team career

Isogai was used for his home country at an early age and took part in games in Japan's U-17 team. In addition, the player with the classic number 10, which he actually wore throughout his entire career as an active, was used during his high school years around 1986 in the Japanese junior national team. In 1995, Hiromitsu Isogai was brought into the Japanese squad by the new coach Shū Kamo , who participated in the King Fahd Cup in 1995 and finished the tournament as the worst team. As part of the 20-man squad, the offensive force was used in both group games in Japan, which were lost 3-0 to Nigeria and 5-1 to Argentina . He made his international debut on January 6, 1995 in the game against Nigeria, when he came on the pitch for Ruy Ramos in the second half . In the game against Argentina he was in action for the full length of the game.

The life after

After his official career end, Isogai was only active in amateur or hobby football. Although he was not a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of Japan , he decided at an advanced age to try his hand at a professional golfer and had moderate success. In the course of time he finally took part in the renowned Japan Golf Tour or in other important tournaments such as the Diamond Cup Golf or the Macau Open, which no longer exists . In 2009 he was in the show Tantei, which has been produced since the late 1980s and early 1990s . Night Scoop ( 探 偵! ナ イ ト ス ク ー プ , Tantei! Naito Sukūpu ) to see. As a player for Gamba Osaka, the club released a song in 1994 in which Isogai was used as a singer alongside some teammates. The song was, according to the radio station FM802 from Osaka sold 30,000 times and also ranked # 23 of Osakan Hot 100 and was represented then another 18 weeks in the Top 100th
