The Hirschbach is a right tributary of the Isar in Lenggries in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen .

geography

course

The Hirschbach is a brook in the western Mangfall Mountains on the boundaries of the municipalities of Bad Wiessee ( Miesbach district ) and above all Lenggries ( Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district ). It flows westward through the Hirschtal between the mountain range of Fockenstein, Schlagkopf, Geierstein and finally the Lenggrieser Kalvarienberg in the north and the mountain range of the three camps (Ochsenkamp, Auerkamp, Spitzkamp), the Brandkopf, Seekarkreuz and Grasleitenkopf in the south . In doing so, he records numerous slope trenches of up to less than 2 km in length. The first settlement in the valley is the Lenggrieser Stickelalm on the lower right slope after about halfway through the course. Soon afterwards the brook emerges into the right widening of the Isar valley and here successively passes the single house Geisreuth on the right bank, the northern foothills of the village Mühlbach on the left bank and Hohenburg Castle on the right. After a running distance of about 8.3 km, it flows into the Isar from the right and east between the northern edge of the village of Anger and the southern edge of the central Lenggries.

Catchment area

The Hirschbach drains about 12 km². In the north-west it borders the catchment areas of smaller right tributaries of the Isar, in the north-east that of the Steinbach flowing below Lenggries . In the east beyond the so-called Hirschtalsattels and in the southeast, the equally important Söllbach drains north to northeast to the Tegernsee . In the southwest, two smaller tributaries compete with the Isar, including in particular the Mühlbach, which is almost half as long, which runs from Anger next to the Isar and flows into it just a stone's throw above the Hirschbach.

The highest point in the catchment area is the top of 1607  m above sea level. NN high Auerkamp. Two other peaks also on the southeastern watershed also reach heights of over 1,600  m above sea level. NHN .

Only about 1.7 km² of the catchment area approximately east of the line from Auerkamp over the Buchenaugraben and the Markgraben back up to the western summit of the Fockenstein are in the area of the municipality of Bad Wiessee in the district of Miesbach ; the area is completely empty. The vast majority of the rest belong to Lenggries in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district . The living spaces in the valley are near the stream and are all listed in the History section.
