Shepherd's Journey into the Third Millennium is a documentary film by Swiss director Erich Langjahr .
content
After Sennen-Ballade (1996) and Bauernkrieg (1998), the film is the last of a trilogy that deals with life in the country and especially with the migrant pasture economy ( transhumance ) at the beginning of the third millennium.
It follows shepherds through the year and the seasons as they migrate between the Swiss Plateau, southern Switzerland and the Swiss Alps and shows them in their tent camps in the great outdoors and at fire pits in mountain huts. He wants to show the lifestyle and worldview of pastoralism.
