The high waiting ( Italian. Monte Coglians , Friul. Colians ) is with a height of 2780 m above sea level. A. the highest peak in the Carnic Alps and lies on the border between Carinthia and the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia . The Hohe Warte, together with the peaks of the Kellerwarte , Kellerwandturm and the Kellerspitzen to the Kollinkofel to the north, forms an imposing, closed wall line on the north side, which breaks off between 650 m to the Valentintörl and 1200 m to the Obere Valentinalm .
Development
The first ascent of the Hohe Warte took place on September 30, 1865 by Paul Grohmann together with Nicolò Sottocorona from Collina and the farmer Hofer from Birnbaum im Gailtal from Collina. This route corresponds to today's normal route .
The starting point for an ascent is either the Marinellihütte ( Rifugio Giovanni e Olinto Marinelli ) at 2120 m slm on the south side for the easy but sure- footed climb from the south, the path of the first climbers, or the Wolayerseehütte ( 1967 m above sea level ) as Starting point for the more difficult path through the north face (few places UIAA II, I ), the Koban-Prunner-Weg , which is sparsely secured with ropes .
A new via ferrata , one of the most difficult climbs in the Carnic Alps, the Path of the 26er , was built by the Jäger Battalion 26 of the Austrian Armed Forces. However, this route is prone to falling rocks .
