The Hohenacker squill ( Scilla hohenackeri ) is a plant from the genus of Blue Star ( Scilla ) in the family of asparagaceae (Asparagaceae).
features
The Hohenacker squill is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 5 to 20 centimeters. This geophyte forms onions as persistent organs. The bracts are spurred and 5 to 6 millimeters long. The flowers are pale purple. 2 to 7 (rarely up to 12) flowers are arranged in a loose cluster . The flower stalks are initially 10 to 15, later up to 25 millimeters long. The tepals measure 12 to 17 × 4 to 5 millimeters. The stylus are 7 millimeters long.
The flowering time is in March, sometimes it lasts until April.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 10.
Occurrence
The Hohenacker squill occurs in Transcaucasia in southern Armenia and in northwestern Iran in Talysh. Here the species can be found in rocky-stony deciduous forests and bushes.
use
This species is rarely used as an ornamental plant for groups of trees. It has been in culture since 1845 at the latest.
