The first ship of the class, the Holiday , was put into service in 1985. The second ship of the class, the Jubilee , was enlarged slightly and delivered in 1986. The third and last ship, the Celebration , is completely identical to the Jubilee and was delivered to the client in 1987.
In 2004 was Jubilee decommissioned and P & O Cruises Australia transferred to the ship as Pacific Sun brought back on track. In late 2005, Carnival Cruise Lines took the Holiday out of the cruise business to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina for a year. The Holiday resumed its use in the cruise business at the end of 2006. In April 2008, was Celebration of Carnival Cruise Lines to the newly founded subsidiary Ibero Cruises passed and as a Grand Celebration operated on. The Holiday was also transferred to Iberocruceros in November 2009 and continued to be operated as a Grand Holiday from May 2010 . The Pacific Sun was sold to interested parties from China in July 2012. It was named henna . In May 2014 Iberocruceros announced that the Grand Celebration will be handed over to Costa Crociere in November 2014 and will continue to operate as Costa Celebration . It was also announced that one of the ships, the Grand Celebration , would continue to be part of Costa's main fleet as the Costa Celebration and the Grand Holiday would either be transferred or sold. Furthermore, after extensive renovations , the Grand Holiday will be in use for Cruise & Maritime Voyages under the name Magellan from March 2015 .
On the morning of 10 February 1989, the collided Celebration with the Cuban freighter Capitan San Luis . The cargo ship broke in two and sank within thirteen minutes. The 42 crew members of the Cuban ship were rescued by the crew of the Celebration and handed over to a tug and a ship of the Cuban Navy before the voyage to Miami could be continued.
On November 24, 2004, passenger Glenn Sheridan mysteriously disappeared from the celebration . His disappearance was noted upon arrival in Jacksonville , Florida . According to the records of the surveillance cameras on board, he never left the ship, but could not be found on the ship or in the vicinity.
In late June 2008, 42 Pacific Sun passengers were injured in a storm . This event only became known two years later through the publication of videos on the Internet.
On June 15, 2009, Michelle Vilborg, a passenger on Holiday , was reported missing. It was believed that she had fallen overboard. The husband reported a disappearance from the cabin while he slept. Other passengers claim to have heard a clapping noise. After a comparison of the passenger list, the absence of the person was confirmed.
In September 2013, the henna was detained in a port on the South Korean island of Jejudo because the Chinese shipping agency Jiangsu Shagang International applied for the ship to be confiscated. After the 1659 passengers were stuck on board for several days, the cruise was canceled and the passengers flown to their home countries.
