The Magellan is a cruise ship that entered service in 1985 as a holiday for Carnival Cruise Lines .

history

Holiday (1985-2007)

The Holiday was built under hull number 246 on Aalborg Værft and laid down on March 25, 1983 . Completion took place in January 1985. On June 3, the ship was delivered to Carnival Cruise Lines.

The Holiday was used for cruises in the Caribbean for the next 24 years .

Carnival Holiday (2007-2009)

In 2007 the ship was renamed Carnival Holiday and was used in the Caribbean until 2009.

Grand Holiday (2009-2015)

From 2009 the ship drove as a Grand Holiday for Ibero Cruceros. Madeira became home port .

During the 2014 Olympic Games , the ship served as a hotel ship in Sochi .

The Ibero Cruceros brand was discontinued by Costa Crociere in 2014 .

Magellan (since 2015)

In November 2014 it was announced that the ship would be sold to Cruise & Maritime Voyages . The ship was renamed Magellan in January 2015 and sailed under the flag of the Bahamas . On January 20, 2015, Cruise & Maritime Voyages took over the ship. For this, the ship was converted in Greece. On March 15, 2015, the ship left Tilbury for its first cruise.

In July 2018, the ship ran aground in the Seine .
