Hooks is a city in Bowie County in the US state of Texas . Almost 3,000 people live in an area of ​​just under 5.3 square kilometers.

Hooks is part of the Ark-La-Tex socio-economic region , which includes parts of the four states of Arkansas , Louisiana , Oklahoma, and Texas.

Hooks is located in northeast Texas, about 6 miles from the northern and 14 kilometers from the eastern border with Arkansas. Only a few kilometers away runs one of the longest rivers in the world, the Red River , which rises in western Texas and flows into the Atchafalaya River after more than 2,000 kilometers . Wright Patman Lake stretches about 15 kilometers south of the city .

The 2000 census showed a population of 2973, divided between 1215 households and 840 families.
