Horst Baeseler

Horst Baeseler (born March 10, 1930 in Dresden ; † September 20, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German architect . As a student of Reinhold Lingner, he was one of the leading garden and landscape planners in the GDR .

Life

The son of a chemist Horst Baeseler attended the König-Georg-Gymnasium in Dresden until mid-February 1945 . When the school building was destroyed in an air raid, Baeseler's school education ended. After the end of the war by 1948, he trained at the Hauber tree nursery in Dresden- Tolkewitz and in 1949 began to work in a perennial garden. By 1951 he completed an apprenticeship as a gardener with Johann Greiner at the technical school for horticulture in Pillnitz . In 1951 he took part in a machine course for gardeners in Quedlinburg .

From 1951 to 1991, Baeseler was employed by Johann Greiner at the Building Academy of the GDR (DBA), where he worked for Reinhold Lingner until 1955 . In 1951/52 both were involved in the landscape planning for the pioneering republic of Wilhelm Pieck in Altenhof / Werbellinsee and in 1952 in the “Stalinstadt Culture and Sports Park” project in what would later become Eisenhüttenstadt . From 1952 to 1955 Baeseler completed a horticultural engineering degree at the Humboldt University in Berlin and became an engineer for landscape planning .

In 1981 Baeseler was involved in GDR development aid projects in Mozambique . From 1991 to 1996 he worked at the Institute for Regional Development and Structural Planning in Erkner . Baeseler died in Berlin in 2004.
