Horst Christian Vollmar

Horst Christian Vollmar (born October 6, 1967 in Oberhausen ) is a German doctor and scientist.

Life

Vollmar passed his Abitur examination in 1987 at the Novalis-Gymnasium in Oberhausen . After doing community service at the Kuratorium for Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation (KfH) at the Johanniter Hospital Oberhausen (1987–1989), he studied medicine at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . In 1996 he received his preliminary license to practice medicine (AiP) and in 1998 his final license to practice medicine . After receiving his doctorate (2000) at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, he studied health sciences / public health there from 2003 to 2005 . He completed his habilitation in 2010 at the University of Witten / Herdecke in general medicine and health sciences.

From 1996 to 2001 he completed clinical training as a specialist in general medicine in various clinics and practices in the Ruhr area . He acquired additional qualifications in medical informatics, sports medicine and medical quality management and the diving medicine certificates from the German Society for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (GTÜM) and medical informatics from the Society for Medical Informatics, Biometrics and Epidemiology (GMDS). He also became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) in 1999 .

After positions at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in the Helmholtz Association , he returned to the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf in 2012 as head of the research focus on health and illness in old age , more precisely to the local institute for general medicine.

In September 2016, Vollmar took over the professorship for health services research and, in October 2016, the provisional management of the Institute for General Medicine at the Jena University Hospital of the Friedrich Schiller University .

In 2017 he accepted the call to the W3 professorship for general medicine at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and has headed the department for general medicine there since the summer semester 2018.

Vollmar has been the spokesman for the Digital Health working group in the German Health Services Research Network (DNVF) and a member of the Standing Guidelines Commission (SLK) of the German Society for General Medicine and Family Medicine (DEGAM) since 2016 .
