Horst Petermann (* 18th May 1944 in Hamburg ) is a from Germany originating Swiss cooking .

Life

Petermann was born in Hamburg in 1944. In the post-war years , his mother and his siblings led a life full of privation; his father did not return from captivity until 1950.

Petermann completed his training at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg , which is one of the Leading Hotels of the World . In 1961 he moved to Switzerland and worked in other Leading Hotels of the World, including the Baur au Lac in Zurich , Le Richemond in Geneva , Carlton in St. Moritz and Interlaken in the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa , in which he became head chef in 1970.

In 1980 he started his own business and took over the now closed restaurant in Herblingen Castle . From 1982 to 2011 he ran Petermann's art parlors in Küsnacht with his wife Iris . In 1987 he received Swiss citizenship .

In 2004 he published the cookbook Cuisinier in AT Verlag ( Baden ) . In the same year he hosted 1200 guests at the Swiss Economic Forum .

In 2011 he handed over his restaurant to his long-time chef, Rico Zandonella . His nephew Roy Petermann is also a chef.

Awards

Petermanns Restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and 19 Gault Millau points. Gault-Millau honored him three times as Chef of the Year , the last time in 1998. In 1996 he received the Clé d'Or Bricard from Gault-Millau. The Schlemmer Atlas honored him as one of the top chefs of the year in 2005 and 2006. The US hotel guide Zagat Survey called it Europe's number one. In the Volkenborn restaurant hit list , Horst Petermann and his restaurant have been number one in Switzerland in recent years.
