Howard Cummings

Arthur Howard Cummings (born February 16, 1954 in the United States ) is an American film architect .

Life

Cummings completed several arts courses in New York City and then earned a Masters degree in stage design . His first employer was domestic television, where Cummings worked as an outfitter for American Playhouse productions at the beginning of the 1980s, but also supervised early, mostly less important cinema productions.

At the end of the same decade, Howard Cummings rose to become one of Hollywood's most sought-after film architects and designed the buildings for a number of A-productions. These include the bittersweet romance about a multiracial couple, bittersweet kisses , the multi-twist detective film The Usual Suspects , the action thriller Deadly Christmas and the star -studded film adaptation of the John Grisham novel The Rainmaker . In the new millennium, too, he designed the sets for costly mainstream films, and in 2014 a commission for the television series The Knick was added. Here, as with most of his 2010s films, Steven Soderbergh directed.

In 1987 Howard Cummings was commissioned to direct and directed the relationship drama Courtship . He was awarded a Primetime Emmy for his scenic work on The Knick and the television film Liberace - Too much of a good thing is wonderful, with Michael Douglas in the title role .
