action

Abbie Reynolds and gay Robert Whittaker live in Los Angeles . They are friends. After consuming alcohol on a public holiday, they end up in bed together. Abbie has a son whom she and Robert raise together.

A few years later, Abbie meets financial expert Ben Cooper, who shows an interest in her. When she wants to move house with him, she and Whittaker are in court for custody of their son. It turns out that Robert isn't the biological father at all; the latter then finds the man with whom Abbie had a brief relationship before the pregnancy and presents him in court. The negotiation thus becomes a plea on the question of what makes a man the father of a child. Finally, Abbie is given sole custody, but in the final scene she lets her son talk to Robert.
