Peter Honess

Peter E. Honess (born May 1946 ) is a British film editor .

Life

After Peter Honess attended Queen's College in Taunton from 1956 to 1963, his father, a studio manager in MGM's UK office , found him a job as a production assistant. He got to know all areas of production and was primarily interested in film editing, so that in 1967 he was given the opportunity to assist with sound editing with Das dreckige Dutzend. Originally, Honess went to Hollywood in 1971 only for a five-week internship and then stayed for seven years, where he was given the opportunity to direct his first two films, Heisse Hölle Harlem and The Cradle of Evil, as an independent editor. Back in England, however, he had to work again as an assistant in films such as The Dogs of War and Desire , before he was allowed to direct an independent film editing for the first time in 1984 with His greatest victory , Electric Dreams and Memed, mein Falke .

The first film that Honess edited for Russell Mulcahy followed in 1986 with Highlander . This was followed by other films such as Ricochet - The Impact , Karen McCoy - The Cat and Shadow and the Curse of Khan . Honess also edited a number of films for Australian director Fred Schepisi , including Das Russland-Haus and Mr. Baseball . For Curtis Hanson's film LA Confidential , Honess not only received an Oscar nomination for Best Editing in 1998 , but also won the BAFTA Award for Best Film Editing .

Peter Honess is a member of the American Cinema Editors .
