Hubert Arnold Hilf (born December 25, 1820 in Limburg an der Lahn ; † January 18, 1909 there ) was a German lawyer , entrepreneur and politician .

Life path

Hubert Hilf attended the Philippinum grammar school in Weilburg and studied law at the University of Heidelberg , where he became a member of the Corps Nassovia Heidelberg . In 1842 he was Amtsakzessist in Hadamar , 1843 Akzessist on Hofappellationsgericht in Usingen . In 1845 he settled in Hadamar as a lawyer . In 1848 he moved to Limburg an der Lahn as a lawyer and notary . Here, Hilf took part in the establishment of the Limburg Advance Association (which he chaired in 1860), was a partner in various mining companies, founded the Limburg gas works in 1862 and was a member of the consortium for the restarting of the mineral springs in Oberselters in 1871 . He was also the managing partner of HA Hilf & Cie. and member of the board of the Nassauische Landesbank . In 1864, Hilf was a founding member of the Limburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1871–1907 its chairman, later honorary chairman).

As a lawyer, he was also a member of the board of directors of the Bar Association for the Higher Regional Court District of Frankfurt.

Politically, he was involved in various bodies for the Nassau Progress Party and later the German Progress Party . He was head of the city council in Limburg, from 1858 to 1863 a member of the first chamber of the Nassau estates , from 1875 to 1881 a member of the Reichstag , from 1886 to 1908 a member of the district and municipal council (1886 to 1898 its president, 1900 to 1908 senior president), from 1890 a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Hessen-Nassau and Chairman of the Provincial Committee .

Awards

Help was the Privy Councilor . Hubert-Hilf-Straße was named after him in his hometown of Limburg.
