Hubert Kolb

Hubert Kolb (born March 25, 1946 in Bamberg ) is a former German diplomat who was ambassador to Chad between 1998 and 2000 , ambassador to Eritrea from 2000 to 2003 and most recently from 2006 to 2008 ambassador to Togo .

Life

After graduating from high school, Kolb did his military service in the armed forces between 1966 and 1967 and then studied law from 1967 to 1971 . After the first legal state examination in 1971, he was from 1972 to 1974 in legal training and finally put 1974 Second state examination. He then began his professional activity and was a consultant at the regional association of Bavarian wholesale and foreign trade until 1978.

In 1978 he began the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and after graduating in 1980 he joined the Foreign Office . After working at the embassy in Morocco from 1980 to 1983 and then at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn , he worked at the embassy in Sweden between 1986 and 1989 . He then served as Permanent Representative to the Ambassador to Kuwait from 1989 to 1991 and was employed at the Embassy in the United Kingdom between 1991 and 1993 . After he was head of the Consulate General in Palermo from 1993 to 1995 , he was deputy head of department in the Foreign Office between 1995 and 1998 .

In 1998 Kolb became ambassador to Chad and remained in this post until diplomatic relations were broken off in 2000.

He then became ambassador to Eritrea in 2000 and succeeded Elmar Timpe , who in turn became head of the economic department at the embassy in the Netherlands . He held the office of ambassador to Eritrea until 2003 and then handed this over to Ulf Hanel , the previous consul general in Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . He himself moved from 2003 to 2006 as head of the cultural department at the Consulate General in New York City .

In 2006 Kolb received his accreditation as ambassador to Togo , where he succeeded Klaus Günther Grohmann . In August 2008 he was finally replaced by Alexander Beckmann in this position .
