Hugo Bork

Hugo Bork (born November 20, 1907 in Graudenz , West Prussia , † October 16, 1998 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Bork became involved in the trade union movement and joined the SPD in 1925. In 1939 he moved to the town of the KdF car , today's Wolfsburg. After the Second World War and his release from Soviet captivity, he was employed as an assembly worker at Volkswagen AG , where he was chairman of the works council from 1951 to 1971. From October 24, 1961 to July 5, 1972 and from November 15, 1972 to August 9, 1974, he was Lord Mayor of Wolfsburg , whose council he was a member from 1956 to 1976. According to Manfred Grieger , who was in charge of historical communications at Volkswagen AG, Hugo Bork was a member of the NSDAP.

On November 20, 1977 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Wolfsburg. Only the VW general director Heinrich Nordhoff had received this highest award from the city of Wolfsburg .

He died on October 16, 1998 and was buried in the forest cemetery in Wolfsburg.
